Arthur C. Clarke, the science fiction writer and thinker, passed away last March 18th in Sri Lanka, his long time adopted home. He is the writer of super famous books as "2001: A Space Odyssey", "The Deep Range" among others. His main contributions are the worlds he envisioned as futurist based on premises other than our own, providing us with deep ideas about the future of the human way of life, the roll of science and technology in society, also deep philosophical considerations regarding the interactions of us humans and the machines we are able to build.

As one blogger wrote about his death:

We owe him gratitude not only for his remarkable talent for cerebral entertainment, but also his exceptional ability to make us think.

I fully agree.

On his 90th birthday, last December, he gave us this remarkable video full -as always- of foward-thinking ideas.
