Donald J. Trump is officially the President of the United States of America as today he is sworn into office; not really hard to believe, though.
He has been working fantastically well a hardcore group of people: the Evangelicals.
I personally am well versed in the intrincacies of that community as I was myself born and raised Christian inside a Methodist church founded by missionaries from "Rust Belt" states. I grew up hosting hundreds of members of volunteers visiting the Dominican Republic serving as translator in multiple ocassions, travelling remote villages in back-then forgotten provinces.
I knew the community inside-out... But, then the 2017 US elections came about and astonishedly such a humanistic quasi-globalist communty sided with far-right nationalists, white supremacists, open racists, and a bunch of other very dubious people to get Mr. Trump elected president.
You may whisper, but why?!
In my humble opinion, the answer was given to us a very long time ago, somewhere around the 4th century BC in the pages of the Arthashastra:
The king who is situated anywhere immediately on the circumference of the conqueror's territory is termed the enemy. The king who is likewise situated close to the enemy, but separated from the conqueror only by the enemy, is termed the friend (of the conqueror). — Kautilya, Arthasastra. Book VI, "The Source of Sovereign States"
In layman terms: the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
What I think happened is something like this: Liberals, or more specifically, Mr. Obama, pushed way too far into the fabric of most people's sensitivities in areas such as sexual orientation, gender identity and Globalism.
For example -a petty one- Mr. Obama appointed as ambassador to the Dominican Republic a high profile activist from the gay community. Not a big deal, he actually did the same with the Embassy in Spain; but contrary to the Spaniard vicarious, the former used his position in Santo Domingo to push his personal agenda beyond what the international Diplomacy is used to tolerate. His many parties made the rounds with the Dominican media up to a point where many journalist were declared persona-non-grata for the Ambassador and his husband.

Bigger examples, plenty. However, my point is that normally "cool" people were annoyed by too many never ending petty things.
A person very close to my heart told me this, literally:
Even though electing Donald Trump may delay the Second Coming of Jesus (as the World would be a better place because of that, delaying the need of action on the evil in mankind), we have to get him elected.
And then, Trump won, fair and square, thanks to that quirky electoral system of theirs and the grassroot work of legions of evangelicals...
A very dark cloud of concerns hovers above the head of millions of sensible people across the Hemisphere as the world surely will became a very unstable place given the composition of Trump's staffing based on his electoral base: a den of dragons; natural enemies just befriended because a common enemy, the Liberals and Obama (Thanks Obama!).
However, to all those still in shock on the defeat or bracing themselves for the worst, please remember the wise words featured on the seal of the great city of Boston:
“SICUT PATRIBUS, SIT DEUS NOBIS” (which means, “God be with us as he was with our fathers”)
