People of North America: wakeup! Please stop wasting energy.

Everybody knows nowadays about the Climate Shift, Global Warming and the Nobel Prize Al Gore received in 2007 because his campaign for global awareness about the planet serious situation. But, just a small fraction of the people are well educated about the facts behind the alarm, how these issues are affecting everyday life and how can we help to avoid the threatening climatic doomsday.

However, in my honest opinion, the reason behind this ironic information "blackout" is in fact the flooding of information the people is getting into from the media, other people, and from their own personal appreciation of the changes of local weather season-after-season in the last decade.

But, "noting it" doesnt mean we understand it, affirmative differentiate authentic climatic shift' phenomena from trivial random weather issues, nor we are ready to help out to prevent to extent direct and collateral damage and finally fix the problem.

A lot of websites and other resources explain the major topics; but, how this information can be articulated in my own lifestyle in order to be useful in our personal quest to help?

By far, the population (we all have to, of course) who needs more to realize, understand and apply the learned best practices of energy consumption (because energy production is the major player in global warming) are the people of the United States of America and Canada.

Energy use by planet regions.As the illustration shows the north america region burns almost the arithmetic half of the world's energy use (7.5 percent of total U.S. energy consumption came from renewable sources, "it was estimated that 40% of the nation's energy came from petroleum, 23% from coal, and 23% from natural gas"). The USA and Canada (whose citizens burns more energy per-capita than "Americans") are about 335 million people (USA' population are aprox. 304 million and Canada's about 33 million people) in a world approaching to 6000 million people (the 5% of the planet inhabitants) but their output is just about the 30% of the world's GDP; therefore, in energy context, what are wrong in these societies?!

The United States currently produces just over 30 percent of total gross domestic product (GDP) when measured at market exchange rates, or 21 percent at purchasing power parity (PPP) rates. This is down from 46 percent just after World War II, but up slightly over the past decade due to the strong dollar and stock market boom of the mid-1990s. Looking ahead, it is most likely that the US share of world GDP will continue to shrink due to faster growth in poorer countries. The four big ones—sometimes called BRIC for Brazil, Russia, India, and China—already make up 23 percent of world output in PPP terms and are expected to grow by at least five percent per year for the next decade.

Temperature changes around the world in the last quarter of the 20th century. The above text clearly shows that production is not directly and proportionally correlated with energy use, hence an important share of waste (lifestyle issues) are behind these energy consumption numbers.

Americans, as the world calls the USA's people after themselves, and Canadians must be called to wake up, educate themselves and start the process of became energy-civilized-citizens of the Planet Earth.
